Grand Canyon, AZ by Leon Werdinger Photography

Dear Friends,

At Wilderness Watch, we’re fans of the big picture. We know that Wilderness is bigger than recreationists’ demands or wilderness managers’ convenience. It’s a living landscape and an ideal, a place to find solitude and experience the sounds and sights of the rivers, canyons, deserts, forests, and wildlife—left to be as they are.

You bolster our defense of these wild places. Please donate to keep our wilderness work moving this summer and on into the fall!

With your help, here are some of the ways we’re keeping the wilderness dream alive:

  • We’re implementing a campaign to remove domestic livestock, and the immense damage they cause, from 10 million-plus acres across 330 Wildernesses around the West.
  • We’ve again blocked the Trump Administration’s efforts to build a road through critical habitat in the Izembek Wilderness and National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.
  • We’re fighting a titanium mine on the border of the Okefenokee Wilderness in Georgia, one of the world’s largest intact blackwater swamp ecosystems.
  • We’re suing the Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to end bear baiting in Idaho and Wyoming, where endangered grizzly bears are being lured to their deaths.
  • We’ll fight the buzzing of chainsaws and helicopters, work to end predator control, and engage in dozens of other issues across our National Wilderness Preservation System.

We have our hands full. Please donate today and let’s keep this wild momentum going!

For the Wild,

George Nickas
Executive Director
