In 2024, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Wilderness Act and establishment of America's National Wilderness Preservation System, which today safeguards 112 million acres, encompassing 150 distinct ecosystem types nationwide. But we'd be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge that both the Wilderness Act and Wilderness System are under constant threat. And these threats will only intensify in 2025 and over the next few years with the incoming administration and makeup of Congress.
