URGENT: Call your senators and tell them to VOTE NO on the "Fix Our Forests Act"

The falsely-named "Fix Our Forests Act" will dramatically change how America’s national forests will be managed, and Wilderness and its wildlife won't be spared.

The U.S. House passed its version of the bill this past spring, and the U.S. Senate may vote on the bill at any time. Even if you’ve already urged your two senators to oppose the “Fix Our Forests Act,” it’s imperative that you speak up again! Constant pressure, constantly applied is the best strategy we have right now to fight this legislation.

By overriding bedrock environmental laws, the bill could harm Wilderness by allowing more livestock grazing and widespread use of manager-ignited fire in Wilderness. Livestock grazing and manager-ignited fire not only harm Wilderness and its wildlife, but are antithetical to the very idea of Wilderness, which is meant to be free of human manipulation.

Outside of Wilderness, the bill would curtail public participation to mandate massively destructive logging on federal public lands, including industrial logging on up to 10,000 acres—or 15 square miles—categorical excluded from the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act.

The “Fix Our Forests Act” is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to dramatically increase logging, roadbuilding, and livestock grazing on federal public lands by undermining our nation’s protective environmental laws.

Here’s how you can help stop this disastrous bill:

First, click here to contact your two senators and urge them to oppose the “Fix Our Forests Act” (S. 1462). You can find your senators’ contact information by choosing your state in the drop-down menu.

Then call your senators at (202) 224-3121.

Write and speak in your own words, but consider making the following points to your senators:

As your constituent, I’m asking you to oppose the falsely-named “Fix Our Forests Act” (S. 1462). The bill would override bedrock environmental laws to increase livestock grazing and widespread use of manager-ignited fire in Wilderness. Increasing livestock grazing that taxpayers already heavily subsidize will cost taxpayers more while spreading more flammable, invasive weeds. I urge you to vote NO on the ”Fix Our Forests Act.”

Thank you for speaking up for Wilderness, public lands, and the wildlife that call it home!

Help us protect America's National Wilderness Preservation System.
