Tell Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke: Protect Imperiled Plants and Wildlife, Don't Gut the Endangered Species Act!
The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is one of the most effective environmental policies in America, with 99 percent of species listed now on the path towards recovery. Many of the threatened and endangered plant and animal species protected by the ESA—such as grizzly bears, bull trout, Canada lynx, and desert tortoise—are found within America’s National Wilderness Preservation System.
Unfortunately, the Trump Administration recently proposed a radical plan to essentially gut the ESA through three proposed rule changes that would dismantle this landmark law by undermining existing protections for threatened and endangered wildlife and plants. Wildlife knows no boundaries and wildlife that use Wilderness for part of their range could be affected.
The proposed changes could hasten extinction for hundreds of other at-risk species waiting to be granted protection under the ESA, due to delays or outright denials of safeguards they deserve.
These changes are clearly designed to make it easier for pipelines, roads, logging, drilling, and fracking projects to gain speedy approvals, at the expense of threatened and endangered species!
Please speak up for America’s imperiled plants and wildlife.
Tell Trump’s Interior Department to immediately withdraw its disastrous proposals!
